Give me a (TAX) break!  OK

We passed the biggest tax break in Hawai'i history!

Whether you are a (D) or (R), rich or poor, this great news!  This will put money back in your pocket: You’ll pay less in taxes and take home more pay (please spend it at local small businesses). No GETax on Medicaid and Tricare services

I fought for all of us. In the face of massive budget cuts thanks to Republicans in DC HR1, Democrats in Hawai'i passed  ACT24 that preserves our historic 2024 income tax cuts for families, the largest ever, for families making less than $350,000!  It cuts income tax for  families while still funding our social safety net services for kūpuna and working families.  Before this law, Hawai‘i had one of the highest income tax burdens in the country.  We fixed it!  I call that #WorkingForThePeople!

We doubled the (family) earned income tax credit and the food tax credit + increased the child and dependent care credit. Against my strong objections solar tax credits were reduced by a Senate mandate as part of compromises to cover $3.2 Billion that the Republican Congress and the Whitehouse defunded (inflicted on Hawai'i). Next: I’ll fight to restore solar energy credits in 2027 + work to house more pets, feed people and protect medical care.

Reducing Energy Costs: High gas prices and tariffs are a hardship and hurt tourism-based jobs and our small businesses. I fought to defeat HB1617, a gas tax.

We passed Act93 giving HECO incentive to keep costs down and move toward clean energy, instead of HECO spending and charging you more.
