Getting our fair share:

In 2025 I fought for Maui infrastructure. We received an additional $294 Million including $99M funding for a new Maui State Veterans home in Kīhei.  In 2026 I requested over $100 Million for Kīhei including funding to mitigate flooding, a Mauka bypass for emergency evacuation, funding to improve our schools, state roads, Kīhei small boat harbor repairs. 

I did not get everything I asled for for our community, but working with my colleagues this year we’ll receive $517 Million for Maui. 

I’m particularly excited to have obtained $5.5M in CIP funds for our small boat harbor repair for small businesses and those of us who enjoy being on the water in Kihei. Someone almost died, so I stepped in and got what we needed!

Correcting the record:

My MAGA opponent’s weird and false public claim that she got a harbor leak repair done by calling the county which can’t even issue a STATE contract is bizarre at best:  I'm not going to call her a liar, maybe she is completely clueless about how the state and county work.  To me, the truth matters!

Facts:  I wrote memos and got the DLNR Director to issue repair contracts before my opponent even contacted the County.  

SPecifically the record shows my April 8, 2025 request to DLNR Director Chang in which I REQUESTED not just repair of the water leak but also a full repair of the entire harbor.  I met with the Governor’s top advisoras well to push for full repairs.  I worked with Democratic leadership this year and successfully had $5.5M put in the 2026 CIP (Capital Improvement Project) House of Representatives budget for repairs for the Kihei small boat harbor.   It was passed and became part of the state budget.

Let me be clear about how we do things in Hawai'i: Sycophant lies and fake AI pictures by MAGA insurrectionist sympathizers may be how they do politics in Missouri, but on Maui, the people have a right to expect a higher standard!  From me they get the truth.
