Helping the Homeless and Houseless

My record is clear: I have voted to fund the Kauhale program. As of Nov 2026 24 kauhale villages are complete and active, spanning Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, and Maui.

We allocated over $100Million to this . ALSO We are trying to get Shelter in Kihei.

And many need a regular home: Since I was elected in 2022 we have completed 465 new affordable housing units in Kīhei: We broke ground on Liloa Hale which will have 117 affordable Kupuna units and completed Hale o Piilani which has 223 total units for families with 97units designated for kupuna with low incomes.

Also I fought for and we passed:
•HB1800 with $250 million for infrastructure
•SB2866 makes the state ‘Rent Supplement Program for kūpuna permanent and provides extra subsidies up to $500/month.
•I personally asked the Housing chair to introduce HB1740 to incentivize projects with ‘Resident Only deed restrictions’.
•SB2060 provides financing for the development of rental housing units and requires preference for projects with ‘Perpetual Affordability’
•SB2552 allows pre-tax savings up to $40,000 for a down payment
