About my current Republican opponent: This is shocking!
This anti-abortion Republican opponent just raised $13,000.
She is being funded by the Republican party in both Hawai’i and Washington DC! (CSC reports)
She just sent out a second flier to 20,000 people in our district- you may have received it.
In this mass mailing she conspicuously omitted the fact that she is a Republiqan, (not transparent)
and also illegally omitted who paid for the flier.
She is being fined by the Hawai'i campaign spending commission for this apparently illegal blatant attempt to deceive voters.

Surely this is not who you want representing you and your family at the State House.
But how many who get this flier will get Republiconned? We need funding to counter this to stand up for the people:

"The Campaign Spending Commission by this advisory opinion responds to questions that arise often in the course of an election. Section 11-215, Hawaii Revised Statutes (“HRS”) provides that all advertisements, as defined under section 11-191, HRS, shall include a disclaimer containing the name and address of the candidate, committee, or party paying for the advertisement. The purpose of the disclaimer is to clearly identify to the public the person or persons behind an advertisement and where they can be contacted.
The disclaimer requirement applies to all advertisements, which includes any communication, exclusive of bumper stickers or other sundry items, that advocates for or against a candidate or ballot issue. A communication is broadly considered as published, broadcast, televised, or otherwise circulated and distributed."

Here is his proudly posted picture from facebook showing him shooting a Russian Kalashnikov AK-47 Assault rifle (machine gun) with a giant ammunition clip:
I find it outrageous that after seeing children and teachers massacred in Uvalde Texas, LGBTQ people gunned down senselessly in Florida, shootings in churches synagogues, even grocery stores and countless other mass shootings daily,
he still kept this profile picture posted.
This shows how out of touch some people are.
These are not the Maui values I grew up with.
Here on Maui, in our South Maui district a man was just shot in the head on Mokulele highway. He was just trying to drive home with wife and three teenagers.
I will not let Maui become a war zone!

Why are ‘Old boy pave over and sell Hawai’i to the corrupt highest bidder network’ candidates like Sen. Agaran, Reps. Hashimoto (former chair of the Maui Democratic Party), Ichiyama and Yamashita supporting this opponent with MAXIMUM contributions? They must know better, yet by donating, they endorse my opponent and support this machine gun wielding candidate in Kihei. These are not the Maui values I grew up with.
Answer:
The 'Old boy network' is pumping money into my opponent's campaign because they know: As a mother of 4 I will support strengthening gun laws in Hawai’i and I will vote for tougher registration requirements. I will protect our children and our families. I will protect women's rights. I will always stand up for the people of Hawai’i, not special interest groups.
These corporate funded pay to play politicians (both new and old) fear candidates who are #WorkingForThePeople not corporations.
And to those politicians I say: Unlike so many who claim to represent people, I will never take a penny from any corporation or lobbyist, especially not the NRA! I'm working for the people, I am working for YOU, the people of South Maui!
I absolutely support the 2nd amendment, hunters and self protection:
But no one needs to kill a 100 deer a minute no matter how much they enjoy venison!
Do you want a house rep that shoots illegal assault rifles and posts about it? Do you want guns in schools or at the legislature? Weapons of war in your neighborhood?
Dark money buying candidates?
Or
Do you want someone who refuses ALL corporate donations and gives away food?
Someone like me who is #WorkingForThePeople not corporations?
THIS IS YOUR CHOICE.
I have hope. I will work for a better future for our families. There is a reason why Doctors, Dentists, Environmentalists, the HSTA Teachers union, the Nurses Union, Sierra Club, Patsy Mink (pro-choice), Our Hawai'i and a dozen other organizations who care for our people, families and environment even the incumbent all endorse me, Terez Amato (TAmato)!
Whether it is protecting children in schools, protecting Women's rights to medical care, or protecting our environment, reaffirming society's protections at the state level is one of the most important jobs that any legislator can do in the next Hawaii legislative session.
I will stand up for YOU! I will protect our children and our families.
We MUST NOT let Maui become a warzone. Maui is not for sale.
